Grizzly bears reproduce every 2 years, one of the slowest rates of any land mammal. Cubs are usually born in pairs during the hibernation of their mother, and they stay with the mother for up to 3 years. In 2017, President Donald Trump signed a bill that repealed wildlife protection laws and now allows hunters in Alaska to kill hibernating bears, as well as trap bears with wire snares and use bait to attract bears to be shot at such short distances that they cannot be missed.
